Carl L. Chapman
President and Chief Executive Officer
Carl L. Chapman was named president and chief executive officer of Vectren Corporation in June 2010. He has served on the Board of Directors for Vectren since 2009 and assumed the role of Chairman in 2011. Prior to his current position, the Carmel, Indiana native served as president and chief operating officer of Vectren Corporation. He has served in various other leadership roles at the company including executive vice president and president of Vectren Enterprises, Vectren’s holding company for its nonregulated subsidiaries and affiliates and as the executive vice president and chief financial officer of Indiana Energy Inc., a Vectren predecessor company. Chapman also helped form and served as the initial president of ProLiance Energy, the company’s largest nonregulated affiliate, where he is still chairman. He began his career in the energy industry in 1985 with Indiana Gas Company where he served in a number of roles.
Chapman received a bachelor’s degree in accounting, graduating summa cum laude from Ball State University in 1977. He began his career with Arthur Andersen, remaining there until joining Indiana Gas.
He serves on the board of directors for the American Gas Association, Indiana Humanities Council, Youth First, Children’s Museum of Evansville and the Board of Advisors for the University of Southern Indiana Business School.
